The #1 compost collection service is expanding our role in the sustainability market by introducing eco-friendly products. While WasteNot is still focused on accessible and reliable compost collection, we have gone one step further by incorporating sustainable products into our shop. Each product is meant to encourage convenience in your everyday lives while supporting you on your sustainability journey, and there are products available for every aspect of your life. Out of all the new offerings in the shop, the top three I tried are the countertop caddy, foaming hand soap tablets and plastic free deodorant.
The countertop caddy changed my composting experience. The convenience of having the caddy nearby when cooking makes the hassle of disposal disappear, without having to leave my WasteNot bucket itself in the kitchen. It comes in three organic colors (black, white and terracotta) with a smooth matte finish. The bamboo handle allows for easy transportation and enhances the overall appearance. While appearance isn’t everything, it certainly adds to the caddy’s appeal. However, the filter is the main draw of this product: it absorbs smells from the compost so that it doesn’t stink up your kitchen, and lasts for two months before replacement is needed. After trying it for a few weeks, I will definitely recommend lining the caddy. While the caddy itself is dishwasher safe, it's much simpler to include a liner in my experience. That way, you’ll have an easy transfer to your WasteNot bin or cart, and the caddy will be free from most compost debris.
I have also introduced the foaming hand soap tablets to both my kitchen and bathroom dispensers, and wouldn’t think of going back! The pack comes with six 0.5 oz. tablets, each the equivalent of a 9 oz. hand soap bottle. Just place it in your current, favorite dispenser, add water, and the tablet does the rest. In a matter of seconds, you’ll have a bottle of naturally foaming, great smelling soap. On top of that, the container is plastic-free and can be placed right back into your compost when you’re done.
The product I was most surprised by, though, was the plastic-free, natural deodorant. It has three scent options: unscented, bergamot and cedar, or lavender and jasmine. It was as easy to use as any other stick deodorant, although it gave me peace of mind knowing it has a far less harmful environmental impact. The deodorant comes in compostable packaging and is free from the plastics, parabens, and aluminum often found in traditional deodorants, and the packaging was just as sturdy as other deodorants on the market.
Looking to take another step in your sustainability journey? I highly recommend these three products! I invite you to check out the WasteNot Shop for yourself, and find what best fits your needs. From plastic-free deodorant to reusable paper towels, you’ll find that WasteNot has it all!
